So here is something I hear very frequently - "I need to eat less if i wanna lose weight."
I shake my head every time I hear it and I feel bad for the people who are using these methods. Why are they suffering? and I don't believe it is good for you.
I believe you can eat as much as you want and not gain weight, and really quite easily even lose weight. You just have to eat the right foods, and you can eat as much as you want of the right foods and not get fat. For example, Cauliflower, or Okra, you can eat this till you completely stuff yourself and you probably couldn't get fat :)
Here's the math :
1 gram of fat = 9 calories
1 gram of starch & protein = 4 calories
So you can eat AS MUCH AS YOU WANT and not feel hungry one bit, and still lose weight.
There is a theory which states that your body knows when it has had enough nutrients it will signal to you when it is full. So if you are eating a nutrient rich food it is far more likely that you will feel quite full even though you have eaten less food, but more nutrient rich foods.
I will talk more about strategies to eat smarter later but I thought I would show you the math to make you realize it is very very possible to eat unlimited amounts of the right foods. I would even venture to say that you do not need to exercise to lose weight. I do believe you should exercise, to stay healthy; but not to lose weight. The proper smart way of eating will allow you to lose weight without going hungry.
